About
There’s a unique trust between a subject and a photographer that I’ve not found to exist anywhere else, and it’s one of my absolute favorite things about working someone. Whether its an old friend or someone I’ve just met, getting to look at them through the lens and see them differently than anyone else does is a privilege that I don’t take lightly.
I’ve discovered that as a photographer you can’t help but see things differently, and your images will be a direct reflection of how you look at the world around you. As I’ve fallen in love with taking portraits especially and helping others see themselves differently, I can’t help but observe my own growth in how I perceive others. Not always for what they are presenting on the surface, but for who they really are whether they’ve realized it or not. It takes that unique trust I mentioned earlier, to work with someone and allow them to coax that true self out and into the world, even if its only long enough to take a single photo. That’s the joy that I find in my work and it makes me excited every time I pick up a camera.
